Interview Tips

Interview is the important step towards fulfillment of your ambitions. It is important to make your interview short and to perform well to gain a good first impression face to face.

 

Below is the information on how to conduct yourself during interviews in order to maximize your chance of success.

 

Before the Interview

  • Know the exact location and time of the interview

  • Conduct research on the company

  • Pay attention to your presentation and personal grooming

  • Spend some time reviewing your CV and response to the selection criteria. Identify the specific examples in your background that are directly relevant to the position you have applied for so that you can demonstrate your ability to do the job;

  • Refresh your memory regarding past work experiences and pay particular attention to how you will describe your most important achievements;

  • Be prepared to convey to the interviewer why this role appeals to you; why they should consider you and what may set you apart from other applicants;

  • Prepare answers to questions you may asked and questions you will ask. Remember that an interview is a two-way street.

 The Interview

  • Arrive on time or a few minutes early

  • Relax

  • Expect handshakes and greet the Panel members by name;

  • Look alert and interested at all times. Be a good listener as well as a good talker and Smile

  • Maintain eye contact;

  • Make sure that your good points get across in a factual and sincere manner

  • Be yourself

  • Let the interviewer guide the question

  • Give clear concise answers with a definite closure to each answer

  • Never comment negatively, about yourself, your previous job, etc.

  • Do not answer questions with ‘yes’ or ‘no’ only. Include explanations wherever possible and tell only those things about. yourself that relate to the position

  • Do not Over-answer questions. It is best to answer questions honestly and say no more than is necessary

  • Always conduct yourself as if you are determined to get the job; and

  • In closing the interview, thank the interviewer for his/her time and consideration

After interview

  • Reflect on your interview

  • Note questions asked for future interview

  • Write a thank you letter to the interviewer
